Students complete a simple cartoon with whatever dialog they like. This activity can be used by JHS 2nd graders and up, whenever you like.

Preparation

Make a worksheet with a picture two kids, a boy and a girl, and speech bubbles above each of them. Fill in only one of the bubbles and ask students to complete the other.

Example dialog

  • Q: Hello, Aki. How are you?
  • Q: Good morning. You look very happy today.
  • Q: Good afternoon. How was school today?
  • Q: Hello, Aki. Let's do something after school.
  • Q: Hello, Aki. Do you want to see a movie this afternoon?
  • Q: Did you get your hair cut? It looks nice.
  • A: Yes, I had a good time.
  • A: Yes, it was very interesting.
  • A: Sure! Let's go to Tsutaya.
  • A: Oh, really? I didn't know that.
  • A: Yes, I think so, too.

Notes

  • Reuse the same worksheet, changing only the speech bubble.
