Reindeer Race Game Pieces

Instructions

Print, cut out, laminate, and cut out the pieces again. Add magnets to the back.

Directions

Use these pieces to test students' knowledge about what you taught in a standard read-and-run game.

How to Do a Read-and-Run Activity

  1. Prepare a list of 8-12 questions about the material you covered. It can cover vocabulary or a grammar point learned.
  2. Put the list of questions outside the room or on the furthest corner away from the students.
  3. Draw numbered vertical lines on the board. Students will use these lines to race.
  4. Students make groups of 3-4 people.
  5. One student can come to the board to choose a reindeer. Put the reindeer on line number 1. This means they are all starting on question 1 (they must say the question they are on to get the answer right).
  6. Students janken to choose the order that they will play in (first, second, third, etc.).
  7. The first student stands up. On "Go," that student runs to the questions, reads the question, remembers the question, and says the question to the group.
  8. When the group agrees on an answer, the second student says the answer to a teacher (teachers should have answer sheets with the corresponding question number to avoid confusion).
  9. If the answer is correct, the student moves the reindeer over one spot and goes to read the next question. The third student will answer to the teacher, and so on.
  10. The winner makes it to the chimney first! Students can continue playing until everyone is done, or at the teachers' discretion.
