Higashi Yuri Town

Higashi Yuri Town (東由利町; higashiyuri machi) is a town located in Yurihonjo City, Akita, Japan.

Contents

History

  • On 23rd July 1955 the Yuri district villages of Shimogou (下郷) and Toomai (玉米) merged into Higashi Yuri village.
  • On 1st April, 1974 the village of Higashi Yuri gained town status.
  • On 22nd March, 2005 Higashi Yuri town merged with Honjo city, and the towns of Chokai, Iwaki, Nishime, Ouchi, Yashima and Yuri to form Yurihonjo city.

  • Snow Story (雪ものがたり)
    This snow festival takes place in the middle of February.
  • Yellow Cherry Blossom Festival (黄桜まつり)
    This festival is at the start of May.
  • Yashio Autumn Colours Festival (八塩紅葉まつり)
    Takes place at the end of October.

Onsens

  • Wakabayashi Onsen (若林温泉). Located on R284, close to the border with Ouchi Town. Opening hours are from 9:00 to 21:00.
  • Shibakura Onsen (柴倉温泉). Access via R107.
  • Kizakura Onsen Yurari (黄桜温泉・湯楽里). Located in the michi no eki in Higashi Yuri on R107. Opening hours are 9:00 to 21:00. Tel: 0184-69-2611
