Directions Speaking Activity

From Akita Wiki

A lesson for lower level high school students:

Print a large version of the map to stick on the classroom wall.

Students will receive two cards. One card describes how to get to a certain place. The other card asks how to get to a certain place.

Students walk around and ask each other where places are. Once they find where a place is they mark it on the giant map.

Fun and easy. Enjoy!

Note: If you divide the class into two giant groups you can have a race to see which group can complete their map first.

Directions Activity

Reading practice and group work adaption for this worksheet.

  1. Split students into groups of four.
  2. Cut up all of the directions and put them into envelopes for each group.
  3. Depending on the students you may want to rewrite the directions or customize them.
  4. Each team will get one direction at a time and they race to complete their map. Each time they finish a direction set they show it to the teachers and get another card from their envelope.
  5. If one team finishes faster than the other teams, use one of the empty buildings and have the students write their own directions to it.
