Sometimes (especially with smaller classes), I bring in my laptop, hook it up to projector and show the students some funny clips from the internet. Afterwards, I pass out a short sheet asking questions about the clip. Some examples: What was the man talking about? Why was the woman laughing? Please think of a title for the clip. I have found that most of the time, the students are interested in participating and it really encourages them to open up a dictionary and use new vocabulary to express themselves.
