Target level | ES 1-3 |
Target audience: 1st-3rd grade elementary school.
- Make a picture of a tree, present, and Santa Clause.
- Teach the students three moves. For the tree, have the students put their hands above their heads in the shape of a tree. For a present the students hold out their hands as if giving a present. For Santa, the kids pretend they are carrying a bag of presents.
- Every one is playing against the teacher. The students all stand up.
- The goal is not to have the same gesture as the teacher. If you do you must sit down.
- Everyone claps twice and makes their gesture.
- Play until someone wins.
Alternative gestures
Same as above but the following 3 gestures:
- Reindeer: place the back of your open hands on your head, to make antlers.
- Christmas tree: arms straight and pointing down, but away from your body. Your head is the top of the tree and your arms are the branches.
- Santa: Hold your imaginary big fat belly.
When playing, everyone says "Merry, Merry, Christmas" together. Making the gesture at the same time as you say "Christmas".
