Halloween: Papel Picado

From Akita Wiki

Great Halloween activity that goes into different methods of celebrating it. Papel Picado is traditionally made in Mexican communities in the United States and Mexico (Canada?). It's generally hung in streamers along roads and windows or used to decorate graves and altars. Granted, I had a school of all girls, but the lesson was phenominal and required little work. These patterns are good if you have a lot of time, otherwise just ask the students to fold and cut.

disclaimer* This does require buying ribbon and tissue paper! (It only ran me 1000 yen.)
