Karuta - Key Word

Preparation

1. Write a story or use a story from the textbook.
2. Choose 10 key words and make karuta cards (Tip: You can use the Bingo Board Creator and then cut the bingo squares out into karuta card.)
3. Put a paper clip on each set.

Description

1. Arrange student's desks in groups.
2. Give students 10 minutes to look at the story before you pass out the karuta cards (If you are using a story they are already familiar with, you can skip this step).
3. Tell the students to clear their desks.
4. Pass out the karuta cards.
5. Read the story slowly and clearly. (Emphasize the key words if necessary).
6. The student with the most cards wins.
