Lead cleaning time

From Akita Wiki
  1. Check with your JTE to find an unsupervised classroom.
  2. Post a board outside the classroom with all of the cleaning activities written in English:
    • I swept the floor.
    • I cleaned the black board.
    • I wiped the windows.
    • I filled the bucket.
    • Others.
  3. Have each student say what he or she did during cleaning time.
  4. Bring a pen or a stamp with you so that you can stamp their notebook at the end of it.
  5. Give some comments in Japanese, especially if your Japanese is not very good. Make funny faces as you speak and remember to laugh!
  6. This works especially well for 1st graders.

Notes

  • I let my kids start and finish the after-cleaning time meeting in Japanese. It just sounds weird to say all those formal things in English and it messes up their rhythm and makes them feel nervous. -Rob Evans
