Music Name Game

Materials Needed
- CD of songs that have titles that are in the song itself.
- Song titles written in large font. Print, laminate, and add magnets to the back of these.
- Large laminated pictures of the singers, groups, and bands of the songs you use.
- Prizes (if you have the resources, you can give CDs as prizes).
Instructions
- Put the song titles and band pictures on the board.
- Put students in groups of 2-5 people, depending on the size of your class.
- Have students repeat the song titles to get a feel for how they will sound.
- One student will stand up in each group (students rotate for each song).
- Play the first song. The first student to raise their hand and get the song title right gets 2 points.
- Give the student a hint to who the singer/band/group is. The first student to raise their hand and point out the answer gets 1 point. If a student thinks he/she knows who it is without the clue, have them describe the picture instead of pointing it out. Try to avoid guessing!
- The winning group has the most points at the end of the class.
Note: Choose about 15-20 songs so that you have a variety to go through and a more challenging selection. If the level of the class is low, put the titles in rows and put an arrow on the row of songs that the song is in that is being played. Don't allow students to guess. Play the song until the title is sung and then let students guess. If students need help listening, put your hand to your ear when the title is sung.
