Saint Patrick's Day Battleship

Lesson Instructions

• Begin the class with a St Patrick's day power point presentation.
• Introduce the language point.
• Play St. Patrick's Day Battleship.

Battleship Game Instructions

• Go over the language point with the students. (I wish I could + verb, e.g. I wish I could run fast; I wish I were +adjective, e.g. I wish I were tidy; I wish I had + noun, e.g. I wish I had a pet)
• Divide students into pairs.
• Give each student a worksheet and 3 (or more) leprechauns.
• Have students hide their worksheets from each other and place their 3 leprechauns on any square they choose.
• Have student take turns choosing a square from the worksheet and making a sentence using the language point. E.g. “I wish I had a dog”. If their partner has put a leprechaun on the ‘dog’ square then they must hand over that leprechaun.
• The first person to collect all their partners’ leprechauns has won the game.
