Slap!

Materials Needed

• Multiple plastic fly-swatters (available at any 100 yen store).
• Laminated images of the vocabulary you are teaching/reviewing (add magnets to the back if you wish to use the blackboard for this game). You can also use the words themselves instead of images.

Instructions

Divide students into groups. Each group will receive a fly-swatter. Each group will line up vertically towards the board. The student at the front of each group will hold the fly swatter. The teacher will either call out the name of the picture/word or give a clue. For example, if the target word/picture is “vampire,” the teacher can say “vampire” or “this monster drinks blood.” The students with the fly-swatters will race to hit the monster. The student who hits it first gets to collect the image. The group with the most words/pictures collected wins the game.
