  • We don't need a link to MES English here because this isn't a page about where to find materials. We have a page for that, Materials. Maybe we should link to it instead, or not link to anything? Douglaspperkins 23:40, 21 September 2008 (JST)
    • I don't see your logic in removing a useful link, nor in creating several extra clicks to get to something specifically related to this page. Personally I prefer web pages that have links riddled through out the paragraph, as long as they are pertinent. Let's just leave it and add a note that it is in the materials page as well? -Michael
      • Yeah it is quite useful I agree. Douglaspperkins 20:43, 23 September 2008 (JST)
    • I also haven't had any difficulties in teaching the differences between which sports we "play" and which sports we "do". I usually teach all "play" sports, and if the kids pick up fast I "level" up by adding any sports they want and teach them do since they usually add "do" sports. -Michael
      • Yes but if you teach a pattern, "I play ~" and don't teach the exceptions to it, students will guess wrong and learn the wrong things. That's the risk. Douglaspperkins 20:43, 23 September 2008 (JST)
        • I think deciding how much to teach and not teach should be left up to the teacher. There is a lot of grammar we don't teach at Elementary, or Junior High. We just teach what we can. Students are creative with everything I teach them, and often guess wrong. I see no risk in that, but that is my opinion. This is a community space and not a researched teaching journal. I think adding suggestions on how to improve lessons is great, but I think when "Difficulties" or "Problems" are added as headings we are getting away from being helpful, and starting to sound like experts, when we are not. Can't we just keep this simple by adding ideas, and not lectures?
          • Obviously the teacher decides what to teach. We should still point out obvious pitfalls. Douglaspperkins 13:46, 11 November 2008 (JST)
