Canada is a big country. Only Russia is bigger than Canada. Canada is almost as large as all of Europe. It is about 27 times bigger than Japan. It is difficult for the Japanese to imagine the size of this country. It is the second biggest country in the world.
The population of Canada is about 24 million. This is about one fifth of the population of Japan. Most people in Canada live in the southern part of the country. Much of northern Canada is covered with ice and snow. Many people in Canada speak two languages, English and French. They say that many people can use both languages.
How many of you have heard about Niagara Falls?
The Niagara river splits into two. Part of its water runs over the falls in Canada. The rest of the water runs over the American Falls in the state of New York.
People in Canada often say that Niagara Falls is a great place for a giant to take a shower. There are two Niagara Falls. So they say two giants can take showers at the same time.
Do you know that you can go right up to Niagara Falls? You can go in a boat, and the mist rises up on either side. How many people has the boat carried? It has carried a great many people since 1846. They have all enjoyed the great Niagara Falls.
The whole tour takes about one hour and a half. But you will never forget it.
