Directions

  • Deal out all of the Uno cards. The students place the cards in a pile, face down, in front of them.
  • Each student deals 4 cards, face up, in front of the pile. This is called a slot. Each student starts off with 4 slots.
  • Starting with Student A, each student puts a card in the middle, adding the amount of his or her card to the running total of the pile. For example, Student A puts out a 5 and says 5. Student B puts out a 7 and says 12, and so on.
  • Once students put out a card, they replace it with a card from their pile.
  • The catch to this activity is that the Number 7 can not appear anywhere in the running total nor can the running total be divisible by 7. If a student puts a card out that would make the running total contain a 7 or is divisible by 7, they lose one of their slots.
  • A student who has lost all of their slots is out and divides their cards with the rest of the surviving students.

Note: The number 70 is both divisible by 7 and contains a 7 so the student loses 2 slots. The number 77 would cost the student 3 slots.
