Print about 20 pictures of famous people. Make sure you have one picture for each student in class. On each picture write 2 sentences. “This is Chibi Maruku Chan. (She’s/He’s) from Shimizu.” To introduce the pictures, have student guess who each person is using the vocabulary, “Is that __?” Also have the students choose the pronouns and guess where they are from. Next, distribute a picture to each student and instruct the class to fill in their own blanks according to the pictures. Then have them introduce their pictures to their classmates using the dialogue,
A: Hello. This is ___. She’s/He’s from ___.” B: Hello. This is ___. She’s/He’s from ___.
Challenge the students to introduce their person to as many people as possible in
five minutes. A follow up activity can be to have the students write a sentence using the pictures and contraction He’s/She’s.
