Thursday, June 12. Fine.
Jane graduated from high school today. Before dinner she got a lot of presents - a pen from Nancy, a Spanish dictionary from Fred, and a pair of shoes from Father. I gave her an album. I think the best present is the dress Mother made for her.
We all went to the ceremony. It started at 8:00 in the evening. All the graduating students sat on the stage.
"I was excited," Jane said after the ceremony, "but I could see you among the other people."
I hope the pictures I took today will be ready soon.
Sunday, August 24. Fine.
I went to the State Fair with my family. There were a lot of display buildings. In the first building we visited, there were a lot of cows and horses. The second had a lot of fruit and vegetables in it. In the third we saw pictures painted by farmers' wives and children.
Nancy, Jane and I bought some cotton candy.
"Let's eat it as fast as we can," said Nancy.
When we looked at one another, we laughed and laughed. Nancy had some cotton candy on her nose.
Monday, September 8. Cloudy.
Now I am in the ninth grade. I am writing at the new desk Father bought for me today. There is a radio on the desk. During the vacation I had a part-time job in a restaurant, and saved some money. The first thing I bought was this radio.
The next thing I want to have is either a tape recorder or a telescope. Both of them are expensive. I hope I will be able to save plenty of money by Christmas. I will try as hard as I can.
