Preparation
This activity needs a worksheet. If you make one, please upload it for others to use. Create a worksheet with statements from various suspects. One suspects story should obviously clash with at least two others.
Directions
The premise is that a mask was stolen from a castle. Students must read the sentences and figure out which person stole the mask because their statements don't match up. Explain the mystery and give the students about five minutes to solve it, making sure they don't yell out the answer! Then, the students must make their own mystery. Encourage them to be silly and/or creative. As they're thinking and writing, go through and make sure their sentences are correct and make sense. Finally, collect the papers and read them out loud. Reward the students that can solve them.
