Due to the number of video clips, the file size exceeds the limit on the Wiki. I have uploaded it to Google Documents here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4Tyj8P1h4PQVnRwZ2ttaUs0eXc/edit
Instructions
You will need Office 2010 to play this game.
- Divide students into groups of 2-5 students (depending on the size of the class).
- One student in each group will stand up.
- Start the PowerPoint and click to the starting scene. Let the animation play. When it is finished, click on box 1. After that animation plays, click on the monster.
- You will see a TV. Click inside the screen to play the video (you must click here or the next animation will not play. Do not click on the play button to play the video).
- After the video, a question will pop up. The first student to raise their hand and answer gets the number of points shown above the TV dial. You can also try to have students race to write the answers, and the first one to share gets the points. If students don’t know the answer and need to see the video again, simply click on the TV screen again. The question will reappear at the end of the video.
- After the question has been answered, click on the monster by the TV. You will be led to the next scene.
- Click on box 2. Continue this process until the Frankenstein scene of the game.
- Once you reach the Frankenstein scene, let the animation play through. When it is done, click on the monster. After the video is done, click the monster by the TV and let the animation play again until it is finished. You can give prizes to the winners during the credits.
- To get to the next section of boxes, there are secret links:
- For boxes 1-11, the moon is the link.
- For boxes 12-13, the door is the link (only click-able after the 13th video).
- For boxes 14-16, the doorway is the link.
- For boxes 17-18, the chandelier is the link.
- For boxes 19-21, the cauldron is the link.
You can use the links to skip ahead if you are running out of time in class and want to get to the last scene quickly. Note that there is another animation at the haunted house scene after the ghost videos. Let the animation run before clicking on the door (the girl will disappear when the animation is finished).
Notes: This game is easy to personalize. You can change the questions to make them harder, easier, or suited to a grammar point. You can change the videos to suit your interests and age levels (note some videos might be too gruesome for elementary school children). Please use other video slides as an example for how the question animations were timed if you add your own videos.
