Description
This is a really fun game in which the students get to "gamble". It is very easily adaptable and can be used for different purposes, including self-introductions.
- At the start, each student has 200$. (Feel free to use currency from your home country, of course.)
- There are around 7 or 8 sentences about you and your country. Some are true and some are false.
- You read the first sentence and make sure that the students have understood it.
- The students try to guess whether it's true ("YES") or false ("NO"). They have to bet money on their answer, so they write down the amount of money they want to bet either in the "YES" column or the "NO" column.
- You give the answer. Students who got it right win the amount of money they've bet, others lose the amount of money they've bet.
- You roll out the pictures and props related to the sentence to give further explanations.
- You move on to the next sentence.
NOTE: Always tell the students that they can't bet more than half of their money each time, otherwise some might lose all their money before the end and not be able to play anymore. However, for the last sentence, you can let the students bet all their money if they like. Try to finish with a surprising, hard to guess statement, it makes it a lot more exciting!
