Show pictures of funny facial expressions. Students make up explanations.

Students can work in groups, pairs or individually. Give them some pictures of people with very interesting facial expressions. Students first brainstorm what kind of mood they think each person has, e.g. very happy or tired. Then, students must brainstorm why each person has that particular mood, e.g., “She went to Disney Sea” or “He was playing football all day yesterday.” Ideas can be serious or funny.
