Hey Owen, I was fiddling with the image on this page, trying to get it to load to no avail. Are .svg images supported on our wiki? The filename looks correct to me:

- Hey Sean, you may have noticed that the wiki has been having lots of problems recently. It's possible that the root issue has been with the InstantCommons feature. I disabled it last night (Feb 15, 2018). We are still investigating. For now you will have to manually upload any images you want displayed. owencunn (talk) 12:08, 16 February 2018 (JST)
Advanced Students
Hey Sean,
Great work on this page! About the zenki senbatsu test. Is there an accepted definition/idea of what an "advanced student" is?

- Hi, Owen! I'm not personally aware of a standardized definition for advanced students (if there is one, then I hope someone points me in that direction). The number of available spots made open for the zenki sembatsu is much smaller than the number reserved for the ippan sembatsu, so, from my understanding, only those students who really feel good about their chances go for it; the smaller number of available spots leads to the bairitsu going up really quickly if many students apply! --SeanC (talk) 13:27, 16 March 2017 (JST)
- I spoke to my JTE about the zenki senbatsu test. It is far from simple. He didn't have any set criteria but told me many things about it. I believe it also varies by HS. JHS 3rd grade teachers must recommend students for it. If a teacher doesn't agree, they can prevent a student from applying. Usual criteria are, the kids have been positive students, positive in general, and participating students. They can be very smart, or advanced/exceptional in their club activity (usually physical), or they were an advanced student council member etc. owencunn (talk) 11:27, 22 March 2017 (JST)
- I think you might be on to something when you say it varies by HS (I heard that was the case for the 2ji boshuu, too). I assumed it was just the smaller number of available slots that prevented students from applying en masse, but I admit I was only basing it on conjecture; your explanation makes sense.
- Now that makes me wonder if students also need recommendations from the JHS 3rd year teacher to take the ippan sembatsu as well...? --SeanC (talk) 16:28, 22 March 2017 (JST)

The Secondary Test
Sorry to start a second header so soon, but I'm curious if anyone has more information about the niji boshuu (Secondary Test). The Sakigake webpage for the 2017 test lists it only as an interview; the Akita BoE website backs this up (it has no materials for the niji boshuu). Do the students use their same scores from the subjects tests on the ippan sembatsu again for the niji? Do high schools no longer care about the students' scores by the time niji comes around? --SeanC (talk) 13:32, 16 March 2017 (JST)
