Preparation

  • Write the names of all students in the class on small slips of paper. Include teacher's names.

Notes

  • This activity is best used as a review self-introduction. Because students have to think deeply about what they are going to say, it is best if they are already familiar with how they are going to say it.
  • This activity requires students to think on their feet.

Description

  1. Pass out the slips of paper with names written on them.
  2. Students must pretend to be whoever's name is written on the slip of paper.
  3. Students circulate the classroom and janken. The loser gives the self-introduction of the person s/he is impersonating, but s/he can't say the name of the person s/he is impersonating.
  4. After giving the self-introduction, the s/he asks, "Who am I?"
  5. The janken winner guesses.
  6. If the janken winner guesses correctly, s/he gets a point.
  7. If the janken winner guesses incorrectly, the students switch roles.
