Akata Giant Buddha

Akata Giant Buddha (赤田大仏; -Akata daibutsu) is a large statue of the bodhisattva Kannon (Avalokiteśvara) located at Chōkoku temple (長谷寺) in Akata, Honjō. Constructed in 1892, the statue is 7.878m high.
History
- Chōkoku temple opened in 1775.
- In 1788 the main temple is finished and a statue of Amidha Buddha is moved into the hall. This later becomes the basis for the Akata Buddha Festival.
