Origami

From Akita Wiki

Japanese students do origami throughout elementary school, so you can do it with them too, but using English. When doing origami, you'll get a chance to use many phrases; e.g., fold, top, bottom, left, right, close, open, one more time, front, back, both sides. Unfortunately, you might have to purchase your own paper.

Ways of using origami

  • Make a Cultural board about Christmas. Put instructions for Christmas origami on it, and leave some paper there. Students can make the origami during their free time, if they like. Leave some thumb tacks there, and students can put their origami up on the board too.
  • When you're teaching prepositions to junior high school 1st years, make an origami box with them. Introduce the prepositions by putting an eraser in/on/by/under the box.
  • Everyone agrees: Halloween origami ghosts and skulls are very cool.
