Ōuchi JHS opened on 1st April, 1984. Before this school opened there was a JHS in Shimokawa and another in Kamikawa. When Ōuchi JHS opened the other two were knocked down.
In 2015 Dewa JHS and Ouchi JHS combined to form the new Ouchi JHS. THis school now uses the building formally known as Dewa JHS.
