A fun JHS warmup activity using phonics.
Preparation
- Write the English letters on the front of the flashcards.
- Write the phonetic sounds on the back of the cards.
- Make enough cards for each student to have five cards.
Description
- Students circulate the classroom and janken with each other.
- The janken winner gets a chance to collect more phonics cards.
- The janken loser must show the janken winner one of his/her phonics cards.
- If the janken winner can correctly pronounce all possible readings, s/he gets to keep the card.
