Talk:New Horizon 1st grade
Hey Andrew, I'm delighted to see someone is working on these pages. They basically haven't been touched since 2011! And they haven't been used at all.
Currently a lot of this information is outdated. The 'Target sentences' are all from the 2008? textbook. The current New Horizons textbooks are from 2016, and use different target sentences. Many are similar but some are completely different. For example the current textbooks Unit 7 Scene 5 introduces "I'm looking for Midori Station"

It appears that quite a bit of work is required, so if we can get a few people on the same page about what needs to be done, then people can help out when they have free time. Below are some of my ideas on how to develop this page, they are just my ideas, and are by no means perfect. Think of these as a way to get the conversation started. I want to hear your idea of how to develop these pages.
Obvious things I can see that need to be done include:
- a description at the top saying what this page is, and what year textbook it is based on
-- Description added, could be probably worded better, will think about it a bit more Ajm1985 15:37, 14 March 2018 (JST)
- links to lesson resources pages that don't have any resources should not exist. The reason being that if a person comes here looking for resources, and clicks a few links that lead to nothing (e.g. 1st Grade - Unit 1-1), they are more likely to just leave. If blanks links are in red, and others in blue it is easy know where the resources exist. If people wish to create a new page, they can look at an existing page and copy that.
-- These pages have been made in advance as I intend to upload a lot of material in the next few weeks, and didn't want to create the pages every time. Ajm1985 15:37, 14 March 2018 (JST)
- on that note each individual resource page should also have a description, explaining what the page they are looking at is. A short description of what each file is should be included, as people can land on these pages from google searches.
-- Agreed, this is a hell of a lot of work though, and thought would need to be put into each page Ajm1985 15:37, 14 March 2018 (JST)
- a template at the bottom to change between the 3 grades. Currently if you want to change from New Horizon 1st grade to New Horizon 3rd grade there doesn't seem to be a simple route.
