Target/key sentences list
This section contains the lists of target/key sentences in all three grades of both 2016 and 2021 editions of New Horizon.
2016 edition
These sentences are called "target sentences" in the 2016 edition. These are the lists of target sentences for each grade.
The "To" column lists the location (grade and key sentence number) the grammar point was moved to in the 2021 edition. For example, a listing of →中1-8 means that that grammar point has been moved to the 1st-grade textbook, key sentence #8 in the 2021 edition.
- A location listed in bold indicates that the grammar point appears in an earlier grade in the 2021 edition.
- A location listed as page number in italics indicates that the grammar point appears in the 2021 edition but is no longer its own key sentence.

2021 edition
The name for these sentences was changed to "key sentences" in the 2021 edition. These are the lists of key sentences for each grade.
The "From" column lists the location (grade and target sentence number) the grammar point was moved from in the 2016 edition. For example, a listing of ←中1-7 means that that grammar point has been moved from the 1st-grade textbook, target sentence #7 in the 2016 edition.

Tokyo Shoseki transition materials (Unit 0)
Tokyo Shoseki (東京書籍; Tōkyō Shoseki), the publisher of the New Horizon series, has made available transition materials for 2nd and 3rd grade classes. These materials are called "Unit 0," and are designed to fill in the gaps created by the switch from the use of the 2016 New Horizon series last year.

MEXT transition materials (Bridge)
MEXT (文部科学省; Mombu-kagaku-shō) has published a supplementary teaching material designed to be used alongside textbooks in the 2021 and 2022 school years. The teaching material is called Bridge, and it includes all grammar points that were newly introduced in the 2021 Course of Study. Bridge was provided free of charge to all JHS 1st- and 2nd-grade students at the start of the 2020 school year with the intent that they continue to use it in 2021 and 2022.
This teaching material covers all grammar points which were added to the 2021 Course of Study (that did not exist in the previous Course of Study). However, this teaching material does not incorporate any grammar points which did exist in the previous Course of Study but have been shifted grade levels.
