Akita Expressway

The Akita Expressway (秋田自動車道) is an important road in Akita stretching from Iwate to Futatsui. The highway follows along the Sea of Japan for most of its route.

The Expressway Alternatives
Route 7 covers much of the same ground as the Akita Expressway and is free to use. Stoplights make the trip much slower though.
Through much of Yurihonjo, Route 7 runs parallel to portions of the Nihonkai Tohoku Expressway. This expressway is being extended through Nikaho parallel Route 7 and will eventually connect to Sakata in Yamagata.
