Ōgata Fuji (大潟富士) is a mountain located in Ōgata. It is technically an artificial hill that sits at precisely 0 meters above sea level. Even though it sits lower than Japan's smallest natural mountain, the Japanese geographical survey has so far refused to list Ōgata Fuji on it's records, simply because it is an "artificial hill." The land surrounding this wondrous peak is all reclaimed land, and as such, sits below sea level.
Climbing Ōgata Fuji
There are conveniently located stairs on the mountain-side, which makes for a relatively easy ascent.
