Japanese glaive (薙刀道; naginatadō) is a fighting style developed and practiced by female samurai while their husbands were away at war. Naginata has become an important symbol in Japanese culture.

When: Most Thursdays 6:30pm - 8pm
**Iwaki Elementary School practice 4pm - 5pm

Equipment

Naginata uses similar clothing and armor to kendo with a few slight differences. The major difference is that shin guards (脛当て; suneate) are also worn in addition to the other four armor pieces.
