This school's name was once pronounced Tsuzuriko (i.e. with the "proper" pronunciation of the character 綴). This pronunciation is fossilized in places like the school's email address and homepage. Over time the pronunciation of "ri" transformed into "re," giving the school the name it has today (Tsuzureko).
The Tsuzureko Elementary School building, built in 1966, is the oldest active school building of all schools in Kitaakita City.
