  • The Deer of Nara City are very special and unique in the fact that they lack the usual fear of humans normal deer have. This results in the streets of Nara being filled to the brim with very cute and very intrusive deer. This is not a special park that you have to enter as the deer are everywhere, making this a technically free attraction. For a small amount of yen you can buy specially made deer biscuits. The deer will bow to you if you bow before offering the biscuit and eat it right out of your hand. Be careful as the deer WILL follow you around and bite at your pockets if they think or know you have more biscuits you aren't giving them!
  • The Todai-ji (東大寺) This temple located in Nara City is famous for its long history and housing the famous Daibutsu (大仏) or Big Buddha. The Daibutsu is the worlds largest bronze statue of Buddha Vairocana. It stands at 49 feet/15 meters tall. There is also a large park to explore and a museum in the complex which costs 800円 per person. 〒630-8587 奈良市雑司町406-1 (map) (web) (日本語) ☎0742-22-5511
