Drum Festival at the Great Taiko Hall

The Roadside Station - Takanosu (道の駅たかのす; Michi no Eki Takanosu), also named Village of the Great Drum (大太鼓の里; Ōdaiko no Sato), is a Roadside Station on the Route 7 in Takanosu, Kitaakita.

This Roadside Station is also the site of the Great Taiko Hall (大太鼓の館; Ōdaiko no Yakata), the museum and storehouse of the world's largest taiko drums, and also where you can watch Takanosu's annual drum festival in September.

Things to see

There's a few local services that share the same parking lot. To the left as you enter the lot, you'll see a farmer's market and the Great Taiko Hall (or sometimes called the Taiko Museum). Straight ahead is the main roadside station building, you can park in front, on the side near the other buildings, or towards the back.

Things to eat

As you enter the main building, there is a small restaurant cafe to the right and a small snack window to the left (which also can serve outside the building through a window).

The soft serve specialty is Shishitoflavored.

Things to do

As mentioned, the Taiko Museum can provide some entertainment for all ages where you can see the world's largest taiko drum.

You can also buy some local produce as well from the roadside station and the farmer's market.
