JHS Prefectural Speech Contest

The Junior High School Prefectural Speech Contest (秋田県中学校英語暗唱弁論大会) is an annual competition held for the winners of local junior high school speech and recitation contests around the prefecture. It is typically held in mid-September in Akita City.

Awards

  1. Speech division
    • The top three students receive awards.
    • The top three students also advance to the the all-Japan contest held in Tokyo (高円宮杯全日本中学校英語弁論大会). However, prefectural representatives are limited to one student per school; if multiple students from the same school are in the top three, then only the highest among them advances, and the next highest student from a different school is promoted to prefectural representative.
  2. Recitation division
    • The top three students receive awards.
    • The highest place student advances to the Tohoku JHS Recitation Contest (東北六県中学校英語暗唱・高等学校英語弁論大会).
