Lesson goals: Get used to colors and shapes. Learn to ask what someone likes.
Preparation: Picture cards (colors, T-shirts, chant), digital materials, textbook cards (color and shapes p45, it's a good idea to have them pre-cut), (reflection cards)

  • Say hello.
  • Greet the whole class, and then greet a few students individually.
Play Pointing Game
p. 18, 19 (See Hi, friends! 1 teacher's handbook p.23 for reference)
  • Choose 1 of the 10 T-shirts and have the students listen to the description of that T-shirt. Repeat this over again.

Play Missing Game
(See Hi, friends! 2 teacher's handbook p.17 for reference)
  • Have students close their eyes and take away one of the 6-8 cards placed on the blackboard.
  • Have students open their eyes and ask them "What's missing?"
  • Once they have gotten used to it, you can increase the number of cards you take away.

  • Listen to the computer and chant along while looking at the chant images.
  • Chant again using different colours.
  • Have students listen to the computer. Chant along with children while showing them the chant images.

Play Lucky Card Game
(See Hi, friends! 2 teacher's handbook p.31 for reference)
  • In groups, prepare 2 sets of the colour/shape cards found at the back of the textbook.
  • Tell the students that they are going to play Lucky Card Game. Choose one 'Lucky Card', without telling the students which card you've chosen.
  • Set a time limit for the students and at the end of the first round,　tell students what the 'Lucky Card' is.
  • Repeat.

  • Reflect back on todays class. Fill out the reflection card.
  • Say goodbye.
  • Praise children about their attitude and use of English.

  • 10 種類のT シャツから１つ選んで，そのT シャツの説明の音声を聞かせる。これを繰り返す。

  • 児童に目を閉じさせ，その間に黒板に貼ってある教師用絵カード6～8枚から１枚を抜く。
  • 目を開けさせ，What's missing? と尋ねる。
  • 慣れてきたら黒板に貼る教師用絵カードの枚数を増やす。

〇「ラッキーカードゲーム」をする。

  • グループで巻末児童用絵カードを２組用意する。
  • グループでラッキーカードゲームをすることを告げ，児童には知らせずラッキーカードを1枚決める。
  • 児童の様子を見ながら，ある程度の時間で1回目を終え，ラッキーカードを発表する。
  • これを繰り返す。 ※評価
